Vandalism is unfortunately an increasingly common problem that spares no places of special historical and public significance. This was also the case at the District Court in Kędzierzyn-Koźle (Opole Voivodeship), where the historic pine wood entrance doors fell victim to vandalism – they were spray-painted, which not only spoiled the building’s aesthetics but also violated its historic character.
Help came from Tabaszewski company – specialists in historic woodwork and restoration, who combine craftsmanship precision with respect for history like no one else.
What did we do?
☑️ Thorough cleaning of the doors – we removed all traces of spray paint, restoring the wood’s natural appearance. We ensured the process did not damage the wood’s structure.
☑️ Door adjustment – we improved the closing mechanism, making the doors operate smoothly and without issues, which is crucial in a public building.
☑️ Conservation of brass fittings – the decorative brass elements were not only cleaned but also conserved to serve for many years to come.
☑️ Complete renovation of the lock and bolts – the historic lock and locking mechanisms underwent comprehensive restoration, preserving their original character and functionality.
Why is this important?
Places like courts, government offices, or other historic buildings are not only part of the public space but also carriers of history and local identity. Their damage—even if only through spray paint—is more than an aesthetic loss. It is a lack of respect for our shared heritage.
That is why every such project is important to us. We show that even after an act of vandalism, beauty, dignity, and functionality can be restored. And at the same time, we send a clear message: destruction has no chance where there is passion, knowledge, and commitment.
